This project involves using alcohol inks and clear resin to create a galaxy or nebula effect with stunning 3D depth.
Essential Materials and Tools:
Materials | Tools |
Clear UV Resin ("Hard" type for jewelry) | UV/LED Lamp |
Silicone Mold (Circular or Square). | Wooden sticks or toothpicks (to handle the ink). |
Alcohol Inks (Blue, Purple, Pink and Dense White). | Gloves and Mask. |
Silver or black Micro-glitter (for stars). | |
Earring hooks and jump rings (Silver or Rhodium). |
Process (Layer by Layer):
1. Prepare the Cosmic Base (Layer 1):
Pour a thin layer of UV resin.
Sprinkle a minimal amount of silver micro-glitter (distant stars).
Cure it under the UV lamp for 60 seconds until firm.
2. Create the Nebula (Layer 2 - Do Not Cure Initially!):
Pour a layer of clear UV resin thick enough to receive the ink. (Do NOT Cure yet!)
Add 1-2 drops of each color ink.
The Cloud Secret: Immediately, add 1-2 drops of Dense White Ink right in the center of the color spots. The white will push the color down, creating the cloud effect.
Cure it under the UV lamp for 30-45 seconds (just to "freeze" the ink movement).
3. Seal and Finish (Layer 3):
Pour completely clear UV resin until the mold is filled to the edge.
You can add a silver leaf flake in this layer (nearby stars).
Cure it under the UV lamp for 180 seconds or more until the piece is completely hard and has a crystal finish.
4. Assembly:
Remove the piece from the mold.
LSand the edges if necessary.
Use the jump rings to connect the resin piece to the earring hook.
And that's it! Earrings with your own encapsulated galaxy.
