"Circuit Heart" Keychain (Custom Design)

This project involves encapsulating a piece of circuit board (PCB) with a touch of gold leaf in clear resin, creating a unique technological and sentimental gift.

Essential Materials and Tools:

 

Materials Tools
Clear UV Resin ("Hard" type for jewelry) UV/LED Lamp
Silicone Mold (Rectangular, Square, letters or Circular shape). Fine-point tweezers (to place the circuit)
Circuit Board (PCB): A small, clean fragment. Scissors or cutting tool for PCB (use with caution).
Gold Leaf or Silver Leaf (Optional, for an elegant touch). Gloves and Mask.
Split ring and Chain for Keychain.  

Process:

1. Prepare the Circuit and Base (Layer 1)

Cut the PCB fragment to the size of the mold. Clean the piece well.

Pour a thin layer of UV resin into the mold.

Cure it under the UV lamp for 60 seconds until firm.

2. Place the Circuit (Layer 2)

Place the PCB fragment on Layer 1. Ensure it is flat and centered.

Place a small fragment of Gold Leaf next to the circuit.

Pour a second layer of UV resin until the circuit is completely covered (this helps prevent bubbles at the edges).

Cure it under the UV lamp for 120 seconds.

3. Keychain Finish (Layer 3)

Pour the remaining completely clear UV resin until the mold is filled to the edge.

Before curing, insert a screw eye hook into the resin at the top of the mold.

Cure it under the UV lamp for 180 seconds or more until the piece is completely hard, shiny, and the screw eye is fixed.

4. Assembly

Remove the piece from the mold.

Sand and polish the resin around the screw eye if necessary.

Use the jump rings to connect the resin piece to the keychain chain and split ring.
